60-day wait for FOID card in Illinois

The waiting period for a Firearm Owners Identification card could be up to two months in the state of Illinois.

According to Illinois State Police Spokeswoman Monique Bond, over 70,000 applications for FOID cards have been filed in March alone, making it a record-breaking month. Some gun store owners say their customers are having to wait anywhere between 10 and 15 weeks, when it should only take 30 days at the most.

State Police say about 1.5 million Illinoisans already have a FOID.
