Janesville Police recover cash, drugs in highway interdiction

ROCK COUNTY (WREX) -

The Janesville Police Department Street Crimes Unit teamed up with Wisconsin State Patrol and several other agencies to run a highway interdiction on March 21.

The effort focused on highway safety and illegal contraband going in and out of Janesville via Interstate 90, Highway 51/Center Avenue, State Highway 11 bypass, and the Five Points intersection.

During the effort, 103 traffic stops were initiated, 180 warnings and 55 traffic citations were given. A total of 33 arrests were made and 18 offenders on parole or probation were contacted. Three people were taken into custody for violations of their probation/parole.

A total of $5,400 in cash was seized as well as Heroin, THC, and prescription medication.
