If owning your own home is on your bucket list, Habitat for Humanity of Boone County could help you check it off.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2013 partner family. They must be a Boone County resident for a minimum of one year and be able to pay monthly mortgage payments.
John Cover, Vice President of Habitat for Humanity says the monthly payment ends up being around $550.
"We call them partners because they're partnering with us as the homeowner. We're the bank, unlike a conventional bank. We're the institution that they're actually paying the monies back to because their payment, the principal payments, goes into the next building house."
Another requirement is the family will need to clock at least 300 hours of work on the home.
To learn more information, there will be 2 presentations at the Salvation Army building in Belvidere, Thursday, March 21st at 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, March 23rd at 9-11 a.m.
