Rockford mayoral candidates support charities through lipsticks

The three candidates for Rockford mayor have joined with a local makeup company to put a creative spin on the election.

Rockford residents can show their support for incumbent Independent Larry Morrissey, Democratic candidate Jim Hughes, or Republican candidate Michael Kleen with their lipstick, thanks to Colorlab Cosmetics. Each candidate worked with Colorlab to form their own lipstick color, with proceeds going to the charity of their choice.

Mayor Morrissey, his wife Stacy, and their daughter Seanna, created a sheer redbrown with a gold shimmer called "Sheer Sizzle". Proceeds will go toward Alignment Rockford.

Jim Hughes and his wife Gail made a soft mauve with a champagne shimmer called "Youthful" with proceeds going to YouthBuild.

Michael Kleen and a campaign volunteer, Nanette, created a full, deep rose color called "Rockford Rose". All proceeds from sales of that color will go to Rosecrance.

The colors will be available at the Colorlab store, 1112 Fifth Avenue, through April 9.
