Also this week, two other crimes occurred on Broadway. Police, business owners in the area and people just running errands on Broadway near 7th Street aren't really shocked to know that neighborhood sees violence.

Nearby resident Jose Alejo says, "Broadway's like a bad area to come through so we try to avoid it as much as we can."

Just hours after an attempted armed robbery at the post office in the 1400 block of Broadway, people are walking around, shopping, but they're more careful than usual.

"I'll stay away from strangers and not talk to people I don't know and be careful especially at night because it can get really dangerous." -says nearby resident Vanessa Pulido.

"You've just got to stay alert. You never know when something's going to happen." -says Skyler Johnson, who used to live in the neighborhood, but decided to raise his family on the East side.

"Right now, I have my kids with me and I would definitely try to avoid something like that and as far as a safety concern it's more for my family, for me I can handle myself, but protecting my family, that's why I try to stay away from over here if I can." -says resident Edrick Collins while out getting groceries.

The robbers walked away with no cash from the post office employee who walked away injury free. The same can't be said for Tuesday's stabbing at the Happy Store in the 1500 block of Broadway.

"The clerk was transported to a local hospital where he is currently still in critical condition." -Lt. Welsh said Friday evening.

Also, Thursday's stabbing at Reingold Computer Exchange at 1224 Broadway, where two arrests have been made.

"That victim was also transported to a local hospital where he's in serious condition." -Lt. Welsh adds.
