Students at Rockford's Alpine Academy got a lesson in health on Friday at the school's Health and Safety Fair.
The educational forum focused on topics like nutrition, exercise, hearts, lungs, swimming safety, and disability awareness. Students in pre-kindergarten to sixth grades got to wear surgical gloves, get a cast on their finger, handle animal organs, and see the inside of an ambulance.
Members of several area organizations and agencies attended, including OSF St. Anthony Medical Center Pediatrics, Swedish American Medical Center Radiology, Winnebago County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit, and the Rockford Fire Department.
