President Barack Obama landed in his hometown Friday for a tour of the Argonne National Laboratory in suburban Chicago.
The facility researches how cars use energy and President Obama discussed research on clean energy technologies in an afternoon speech. His Energy Security Trust plan aims to move cars and trucks to clean energy while creating jobs along the way.
According to Argonne's communications director, the last time a president toured the laboratory was in 2002 when President George W. Bush visited.
President Obama visited several of the facility's stations during his tour.
