A sixteen year veteran of the Rockford Police Department is celebrating a promotion.
Sergeant Michael Dalke was named Assistant Deputy Chief (ADC) of the Administrative Services Bureau. In that role, he will oversee the Recruiting and Training Unit, Personnel, Accreditation, Evidence and Property, and all administrative issues.
After the retirement of Deputy Chief Michael Booker last year, Chief Chet Epperson restructured the leadership team at the department, and had considered giving administrative duties to a civilian prior to picking Dalke for the role.
"Assistant Deputy Chief Dalke will enhance the recruitment and leadership development of our organization and its relationship to our citizens," Chief Epperson said. "His combination of experience and education will be a strong asset to our department."
Dalke started with Rockford Police as a patrol officer in 1997, was promoted to investigator in 2006, and named sergeant in 2008. He currently serves on the SWAT Team and Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System Special Response Team.
He has a Master of Arts in Teaching and Leadership from Saint Xavier University.
