Beginning this fall, teachers in the Rockford school district will be able to lock their doors from the inside.
Currently, most classrooms cannot be locked from inside the room, meaning teachers are not able to go into full lock down when the school calls for it.
About 1,700 doors will be replaced and officials have set aside about $1 million to pay for their replacement.
