Cancer patients, survivors, and supporters gathered Friday to celebrate the kick off of an annual fundraiser with a twist.
The Bow Tie March for Men's Cancer Awareness celebrates male cancer survivors and those who have been touched by the illness. This year, the kick off celebration was held by Healing Pathways-Cancer Resource Center and Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen was named honorary chairperson.
"The older I get, the more funerals I'm going to," Nielsen said. "I have to get out my black suit more often than I'd like, so anything we can do to help and raise awareness the better."
The march 1.5 mile walk and 5K run will take place on Saturday June 8 along the Perryville Recreation Path. You can sign up at http://healingpathwayscrc.org/bowtiemarch.html.
