Rockford organization celebrates Nutrition Month by feeding seniors

With almost one in ten seniors in America suffering from poor nutrition, Emeritus at Rockford is celebrating National Nutrition Month by delivering thousands of meals to local seniors.

The organization, part of Emeritus Senior Living, is delivering 10,000 free meals to seniors in just 60 days and visiting with them to make sure they are receiving the nutrition they need.

"Seniors may not get the nutrition they need for a variety of reasons," says Edith Ackerman, Dining Services Director. "For some, it's due to a lack of financial resources; for others, a lack of reliable transportation. And in many cases, isolation and depression have caused seniors to lose interest in cooking and eating healthfully."

If you know a senior that could use Emeritus' help, call Emeritus at Rockford at 815-332-8484.
