CARACAS, VENEZUELA (WREX) -- Venezuela's president has lost his long battle with cancer.
The nation's vice president confirmed Hugo Chavez's death on Tuesday. Chavez has ruled Venezuela for over 14 years, but became so sick that he was not able to be sworn in for a new term this past January.
According to Venezuela's constitution, there will be a snap presidential election to decide his successor. Vice President Nicolas Maduro will serve as the interim president.
