He's served as the dean for the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford for ten years, but now Dr. Martin Lipsky is preparing to say goodbye.
Dr. Lipsky will leave the college this week. During his tenure, the college has added a new regional college of pharmacy, a new master's degree program, and a program addressing the issue of child support. However, Dr. Lipsky says the timing was right for his departure.
"After ten years you really should pass the torch to someone else, because I think you begin to use up your ideas, your innovations," Dr. Lipsky said.
Dr. Lipsky will join his wife in Portland, Oregon.
