A possible plea negotiation is in the works for the former Dixon comptroller convicted of stealing over $53 million from the city.
Rita Crundwell appeared in Lee County court via a video monitor after her lawyer asked for state charges against her to be dismissed. It was the first time Crundwell was seen in a prison jumpsuit and shackles since she was sentenced to 235 months in federal prison for wire fraud.
The motion was not ruled on, but both sides agreed to a sit-down that includes the possibility of a plea negotiation.
