Sock monkeys take over Midway Village

Posted:

Hundreds of sock monkeys are teaching history at the Midway Village Museum.

They are part of the "Sock Monkey Madness Festival."  The event gives kids a chance to create their own sock monkeys and customize their new little friend's fashion line of clothing.

The festival also includes the annual Ms. and Mr. Sockford 2013 beauty pageant in addition to exhibits about the history of Rockford's knitting industry.

The event helps stitch together Rockford's past with the present popularity of the sock monkey.
