Chicago Rush to Play Two Arena League Games in Rockford

CHICAGO (WREX) -

After finalizing a deal with the Allstate Arena and BMO Harris Bank Center on Tuesday, the Chicago Rush are set to enter the 2013 AFL season with a new owner, Chicago native David Staral Jr.

In the three weeks since Staral Jr. has acquired control of the largest market in the Arena Football League, he has finalized the team's front office, coaching staff and schedule for the 2013 season.

"The Allstate Arena has been the home of the Chicago Rush since the team's inception," Staral Jr. said, "We hope to continue to build on the legacy of this historic team but give fans an experience they have never seen before. This is the new regime, it's a whole new ball game."

The Rush will kick off the new vision of the franchise March 23 against the Iowa Barnstormers in Chicago. The team will make their national television debut on CBS Sports Network at the Allstate Arena on May 4 against the Philadelphia Soul. CBS Sports Network will also feature the Rush on the road on April 20 and May 25.

Due to scheduling issues at the Allstate Arena, two home games will be played at the BMO Harris Bank Center in Rockford, IL (June 8 vs. Utah and June 15 vs. San Antonio). The arena was home to the AFL's "test game" between the Chicago Politicians and Rockford Metros in 1986. The Rush plan to pay tribute to the history of the AFL and the Chicago franchise against the Utah Blaze. They will also offer free parking to season ticket holders and host an official tailgate party for both games in Rockford.

Players report for team meetings and physicals today. Training camp begins tomorrow in Palatine, IL.
