Due to federal budget cuts and low unemployment insurance claims, the Illinois Department of Employment Security is closing seven offices around Illinois.
The DeKalb, Centralia, East St. Louis, Galesburg, Jacksonville, Mattoon, and Murphysboro offices all close Friday, March 1, leaving 192 jobless. Those employees, however, do have the chance to fill other open jobs in state government.
The closures are just the latest in a series of cuts made by IDES, which closed 15 offices, including the one in Freeport over the last 18 months.
