Rockford celebrates Black History Month at City Hall

Posted: Updated:

The end of Black History Month comes with a big celebration by the NAACP and other Rockford organizations.

The Black History Month observance, "The Game Changers" was full of dance, song, and theater performances. The Rockford Park District and Rockford's Mayor Larry Morrissey were also active in making this celebration happen. It was important to committee members to pick a central location for the event.

"We all together. It's just not west side, south side, eastside, north side, but we're all together in this city and we're all moving forward together and we can all be game changers for the better," said Celebration Committee member Robert Sargent.

This is the third year of the Black History Month observance in Rockford.
