Beginning on March 8, the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford will be under new leadership.
Dr. Martin Lipsky, the school's dean of ten years, is resigning and Dr. Mitch King has been named as his interim replacement. A committee chaired by Dr. William Chamberlin is currently looking for a permanent replacement for Dr. Lipsky.
Dr. King is currently a professor in the department of family and community medicine. He's served as the associate dean for academic affairs since 2005, helping the campus to transform its curriculum.
He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
