A 47-year-old Belvidere man was sentenced to six years in prison for one count of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance and one count of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.

Delfino Perez sold about 1.6 grams of a substance containing cocaine to someone at his home on February 21, 2012. On March 22, 2013, a search warrant was executed at the home and police seized 20 grams of a substance containing cocaine, a scale, and $6,028.20.

In addition to Perez's conviction, Boone County State's Attorney Michelle Courier sued and received the $6,028.20 found in the home as drug proceeds. That money was then awarded to the Belvidere Police Department to help further investigations into drug activity.
