The Rockford Aviators have added more championship experience to their 2013 roster with the signing of outfielder Alvaro Ramirez. The team also announced the signing of rookie catcher Eric Bainer.
Ramirez is a two-time Frontier League All-Star outfielder who is entering into his eighth season of professional baseball. He was traded from Normal to Southern Illinois in the middle of the season last year, where he won the Frontier League Championship with the Miners.
Prior to coming to the Frontier League in 2011, the Dominican Republic native spent three years in the New York Yankees organization and two in the Chicago Cubs organization.
The Aviators also signed rookie catcher Eric Bainer, who played four years at Morehead State and spent the past month with the California Winter League's Coachella Valley Snowbirds.
Bainer hit .451 through 20 games with the Snowbirds. The 5-foot-10, 200 pound catcher also drove in 26 runs and held an on-base percentage of .500.
