Rockford Police investigate southeast side shooting

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Rockford Police responded to shooting Tuesday morning. Around 2a.m. officers responded to Swedish American Hospital for a man who had been shot.

The shooting occurred in the area of Sewel Street and Willis Avenue. The victim said he was out walking and looking for his dog, when a man walked up to him, pointed a handgun at him and asked what he had.
The victim struggled with the suspect before the suspect shot him in the right leg. The victim is facing non life threatening injuries.
