Freeport's Presence Saint Joseph Center, formerly Provena St. Joseph Center, celebrated the dedication of a new 16-bed Medicare-certified short-stay rehabilitation wing on Monday.
Bishop David J. Malloy of the Rockford Diocese was on hand to officiate the dedication ceremony for the wing, which will accommodate patients who have had hip replacements, knee replacements, or other surgeries.
"We planned this new addition to better serve the needs of the community," said Michelle Lindeman, Administrator of Presence Saint Joseph Center. "We added 16 private rooms to accommodate the many patients who need short-term rehabilitation. We also will begin converting six semi-private skilled nursing rooms in our existing facility to private rooms."
Recently, the demand for short-stay accommodations has risen, and the private rooms in the new addition at Presence Saint Joseph will help reduce the risk of infection and speed recovery.
