2 women in critical condition after Boone County crash


Two Belvidere women are in critical condition at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a late morning crash in Boone County.

The women, a 67-year-old and 40-year-old, were driving a van southbound on Pearl, when they were hit by a semi at the intersection of Pearl and Bypass 20 around 11:15 a.m. According to investigation, the driver of the semi, 47-year-old Elias Salmons of Indiana, ran a red light, striking the women's van.

Salmons was not injured and was cited for disobeying a traffic control device.

The intersection was shut down for about two and a half hours.
