Funeral arrangements announced for Alderman Robertson


Rockford's former fire chief and alderman will be laid to rest Friday.

D. William Robertson died Saturday, February 23 at the age of 66. Robertson began working for the Rockford Fire Department in 1972, working his way up to chief in 1991. He retired from the department in 2008.

Along with serving on several boards in the Rockford community, Robertson was elected 14th Ward Alderman in 2009.

A memorial visitation will be held for Robertson on Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, 925 5th Avenue.

Memorials can be sent to Zion Lutheran Church, Shelter Care Ministries (412 North Church Street), or Serenity Hospice and Home (1658 South Illinois Route 71, Oregon).
