On a hunch, Rosie Blackshire bought a $1 Cash for Life instant lottery ticket and became a winner.

The Rockford resident said, "I was actually on my way out the door when something told me to turn around, go over to the machine, and purchase a Lottery ticket." That $1 ticket won her $500 a week for life.

Blackshire is a disabled Army Veteran who served in Iraq, Korea, and Afghanistan. She currently rents an apartment with her fiancé, but says the winnings will help them to buy a house and pay off bills.

She chose the one-time cash option of $380,000, and the Marathon on South Alpine, where Blackshire bought the ticket, received a $3,800 bonus.
