Salvi celebrates 90th birthday - WREX.com – Rockford’s News Leader

A long time Rockford East High School track coach celebrates his 90th birthday.
Dan Salvi Sr. coached track at East for 23 years. To say he was successful is an understatement.
In his tenure at East, Salvi racked up 19 conference championships, 14 sectional crowns and 121 consecutive dual meets. He was named "Track Coach of the Year" by his peers several times and twice earned the honors of "Coach of the Year."
In 1987 Salvi was inducted to the Illinois Track Coaches Hall of Fame.
