RVC student donates bone marrow to help woman with leukemia

A Rock Valley College student will give up some of his bone marrow in an effort to help a 50-year-old woman suffering from leukemia.

Logan White is donating through the Rock River Valley Blood Center. The center registers potential bone marrow donors and calls them when a match is found. Donors then get the chance to help save a life.

"I signed up for the registry thinking that I would never actually be chosen, and I did, so I'm still wrapping my head around it, to be honest," White said.

The RRVBC is always looking for potential donors. For more information, visit their website at www.rrvbc.org.

Besides marrow, the center also takes blood, platelets, and plasma donations. There is currently an extreme need for O- donations.
