The Winnebago School District's incoming superintendent is looking forward to starting his new job.
Scott Bloomquist has served as principal at Iroquois West Upper Elementary School for the last three and a half years, but says he's always wanted to live in the Rockford area to be closer to family.
Bloomquist expects the challenges that face the Winnebago District to be similar to what he sees in his current district, like trying to provide a good education with less money.
Bloomquist says his goals include "trying to maintain opportunities for kids to grow academically, to maintain opportunities for students to be involved in extra-curricular activities, and to be able to do that in the tough financial times that we're in now."
He, his wife, and four children plan to move to Winnebago this summer. His contract begins in July and is three years long.
Bloomquist is replacing Winnebago's current superintendent, Dennis Harzelak, who is retiring.
