Rockford Peace Day planning underway and expanding

Posted: Updated:
ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Rockford's International Day of Peace becomes a month full of activities.

September 21st is the Day of Peace.  The  Peace Day Committee is working on organizing several events during all of September.  Hundreds of kids have gone to the Keeling/Puri Peace Plaza in Rockford for 10 years to celebrate our region's cultural diversity.  Now there will be a month devoted to our differences.

"It's very, very exciting.  There's arts groups here, music groups, various people that work with children, some businesses, and its going to be fun to see what comes out of it," says International Day of Peace volunteer Jim Keeling.

Tuesday was the first of several meetings between now and September to get the community involved in the planning process.
