ROCKFORD (WREX) -

The Rockford Police Department Community Services Unit teamed up with the Winnebago County Health Department on Monday to conduct tobacco compliance checks around Rockford.

A total of 118 stores were checked, but only two were issued citations. The Logli's Supermarket on North Rockton Avenue and the Stop N Shop on Huffman Boulevard were both cited for Sale of Tobacco Products to Minors.

The funding for the checks was provided by the Illinois Liquor Control commission. Minors employed by the Winnebago County Health Department made the controlled purchases.
