Hospice Care of America is spending the week honoring local veterans for the sacrifices they made for this country.
The group held a pinning ceremony earlier this week at Durand's Medina Manor, and spent Friday at Rockford's Provena Cor Mariae Center. Active duty members of the armed forces as well as veterans participated in the event, which included a color guard and other tributes.
"We have a generation of WWII veterans that, there's not that many left and this is a last opportunity to say thank you to them and show our gratitude and appreciation for what they did for our country," Hospice Care of America Administrator Dan Kennedy said.
