Crusader Community Health celebrated Children's Dental Health Month on Friday with a visit to a local parent education group.
Dr. Lionel Gibson visited with the Fairgrounds Head Start School Parent Education Group to stress the importance of oral health in children.
"Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums," Dr. Gibson said. "Children's teeth are meant to last a lifetime, and with proper care, a healthy diet and regular dental visits, children can have a healthy and happy smile."
Crusader offers a full range of dental care for children, including fillings, cleanings, and emergency treatments at all four of its locations in Rockford, Loves Park, and Belvidere. The clinics also offer sliding discounts and accept Medicaid, Illinois Health Connect, and private insurance plans.
Crusader follows the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry model of pediatric dentistry to have children receive their first dental evaluation within six months of their first tooth and no later than 12 months, plus fluorination, education, and sealants.
