A Pecatonica husband and wife will spend time in behind bars, for stealing money from the Village's Fire Department.
Brenda and Donald Samuelson were each sentenced to six months in jail. The Samuelsons pleaded guilty to theft and forgery last month. They were charged in December of 2011 for stealing money from the Pecatonica Fire Department. Brenda was a bookkeeper and Donald was a firefighter. Investigators say Brenda wrote checks to her husband and paid him for overtime he didn't work.
In addition to the jail time, both Samuelsons will have to pay $155,000 in restitution and be on probation for the next four years.
