UPDATED: Dakota District on lockdown, gunshots heard nearby


The lockdown was lifted around 2:30 p.m.


The Dakota School District went on lockdown around 12:45 p.m. after gunshots were heard in the distance.

Children who were out at recess were brought inside and the sheriff's department is responding.

There is no immediate threat and no students are in danger.
