By helping others, Lifescape Community Services got a little help of its own.
Through its participation in the "Share the Love" event at Napleton's Subaru of Rockford, Lifescape collected enough non-perishable food items to make nutritious meals for 50 senior citizens. Because of that effort, the Meals on Wheels Association of America donated $2,000 to the organization.
The grant will Lifescape continue to provide meals to area seniors who are home bound and isolated. The program helps seniors who live on their own maintain their health and their independence.
According to the MOWAA, one in four American homes contains a senior and one in ten of those seniors live alone with the possibility of food insecurity.
