Rockford's world-renown Burpee Museum features life from the past but now focuses on the what the future holds.
Maureen Mall takes over leadership as executive director of the museum.
"It's very exciting, it's kind of my dream job," said Mall.
Seven years of volunteering and working for Burpee along with 20 years of business leadership made the position a good fit.
"The teams here are fabulous, the staff is fabulous as far as planning things and events. We've got Paleofest coming up in a couple of weeks. That's very exciting and I'm just happy to step in right when these guys are about to execute this wonderful event," said Mall.
While in the field, mall was part of the team that discovered the remains of a juvenile triceratops. Little did she know, she'd be leading the museum when "Homer" is unveiled.
Mall says she's also excited for the museum's Paleofest which kicks off in a couple of weeks.
