In honor of National Heart Month, the Winnebago County Health Department is offering discounted cholesterol screenings.
Several walk-in clinics at Heartland Community Church started on Thursday and will continue through February 9. The clinics offer Lipid Panels and Comprehensive Metabolic Panels. The tests require a ten-hour fast, but its recommended that those who take the tests drink plenty of water prior to doing so.
"We like to provide this service so that people can come and take control, take a look at their blood cholesterol and see if they're elevated and if they should take control and make the necessary changes in their lifestyle," Winnebago County Health Department RN Debbie Green said.
The clinics will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on February 8 and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on February 9. The cost
is $25. Heartland Church is located at 1280 South Alpine Road in
Rockford.
