Illinois Department of Insurance warning of home warranty scam

The Illinois Department of Insurance is warning residents not to purchase home warranty service from Arkidus Home Protection.

The Florida-based business has been unlawfully advertising home warranty services via the internet to customers in Illinois. The company and it's owner, Reinaldo "Ray" Berges has previously been served with a cease and desist order by the DOI, but has recently been offering coverage for household appliances.

The DOI has received multiple complaints from people who were experiencing difficulty in receiving reimbursement for claims. Consumers who have been doing business with Arkidus via its website, www.theahp.net, or with Berges, should seek assistance about their coverage immediately.

Neither Berges or Arkidus has been granted a certificate of authority to transact insurance or sell home warranties in the state of Illinois.
