Belvidere woman arrested for drugs, child endangerment

After several neighborhood complaints, the Belvidere Police Department's Narcotics Unit arrested a 27-year-old Belvidere woman on several charges, including child endangerment.

Sheena Kesler was arrested on February 5 after a two-month investigation by the Narcotics Unit. She has been accused of selling cocaine to undercover officers while her two children were present. Both children are under the age of eight.

She was taken into custody at a home in the 500 block of West Hurlbut Avenue. During her arrest, detectives searched the home and recovered cannabis, scales, drug packaging material, drug paraphernalia, cash, and a car. The two children were taken into protective custody and later turned over to the Department of Children and Family Services.

Kesler has been charged with the following:

  • One count Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of a Senior Citizen Complex (Cocaine, Class X Felony)
  • One count Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine, Class 1 Felony)
  • Two counts of Endangering the Life or Health of a Child

Kesler is being held in the Boone County Jail on $100,000 bond.
