UPDATED: One dead, one severely injured in Rock County shooting


The suspect in Wednesday morning's shooting is currently in custody at UW Hospital. He is in critical condition.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office believes the man is the lone suspect and the scene is secure.


According to Sheriff Robert Spoden, a female was found dead in a home in the 6700 block of Stuart Road and a male suspect was found with what police believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital via helicopter with severe injuries.

Names have not yet been released, but WKOW is reporting the suspect is in his early 70's and the woman is in her late 50's or early 60's. Police believe the two are acquainted, but are giving no details on their relationship.

Our sister station, WKOW in Madison, is reporting a helicopter is en route to assist a victim.

They are currently awaiting an update from Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden as soon as the scene is secure.

The Rock County SWAT Team is responding to a reported shooting in Plymouth Township.

The alleged shooting is on Stuart Road. Deputies with the Rock County Sheriff's Office is currently setting up a perimeter.

The sheriff's office is asking citizens to avoid the Stuart Road area.
