Rockford District 205's Operations Committee discusses the progress of the facilities master plan.
Civil work fees, which include paving work, along with some of the finishes like floor tiling and wall construction, have been dropped from the architecture company, Hagney. The district will either hire a different contractor for those needs or do it themselves. The board approved last December six elementary school additions and three field houses.
RPS205 Chief Operations Officer, Todd Schmidt says input meetings have included coaches, teachers and even nurses, all to help the design team work out details of the plans.
"Some of them I think we have 4 different revisions or 7 different revisions already, which is fine. But at the end of the day we're going to have something that's within budget and really feasible for the building to have, so that it really functions well for them."
The largest project will be the first to break ground. Auburn's field house and additional classroom space total around 80,000 square feet. The elementary school additions are all expected to be done by the end of 2013.
