UPDATED: Victim dies in Rockford car vs pedestrian crash

UPDATE 3, February 7:
Terry Basore has passed away of neck injuries sustained in the crash.


Terry Basore of Rockford, is in serious condition after being struck by a car around 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 4.

Police say he was trying to cross the street at Manchester and Harrison and made it across the eastbound lanes, but was waiting in the median for traffic in the westbound lanes. Then, according to police, Basore saw a car turning south, but did not see another car that was coming. Basore attempted to cross the street and was hit by the other car.

No charges or arrests have been made. Police are still working on reconstructing the accident.


The victim was a 68-year-old man who suffered life-threatening injuries.

Names have not yet been released and no charges have been filed.

The investigation is ongoing.

A man is in critical condition after being hit by a car early Monday night.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m., Rockford police responded to a call of a car hitting a man near the intersection of Manchester Drive and Harrison Avenue.  Police say he was not crossing in a crosswalk.   He was transported to a nearby hospital. The accident is still under investigation.
