UPDATED: Rockford declares snow emergency, garbage delayed

UPDATE:
Garbage collection in Rockford will be delayed on Monday due to the condition of the roads. Rock River Disposal drivers have been instructed to only collect garbage where it is safe to do so, therefore some stops will be delayed while others may have to wait a few days until pickup can be accomplished safely.

PREVIOUSLY:
Rockford leaders have declared a snow emergency beginning at 9am.

This means the odd/even parking rule is in effect until Public Works determines it's no longer necessary. Odd/Even parking means parking your car on the even numbered side of the street on even numbered days and the odd side on odd numbered days.

The city warns cars found in violation will be ticketed.

City of Rockford road crews will begin plowing residential streets at 9am today. The city will continue plowing and salting arterial routes today as well.
