Families take part in genealogy meeting

Learning about the past through your family's history is the main goal of the Winnebago & Boone Counties Genealogical Society.

The group helps its members learn more about their family history in Northern Illinois.

The organization offers CDs, maps, newsletters and other items to help individuals  investigate their family's past.

But today the society's main focus is on the Civil War and how that conflict affected families.
