Rockford Fire Prevention Division honored for service

The eight people in the Rockford Fire Department's Fire Prevention Division have been honored for their commitment to education children and adults about fire safety.

Liberty Mutual Insurance awarded the division with its Firemark Award for Community Service on Thursday. In the past year alone, the division has reached over 10,000 adults and 14,000 children to teach them fire safety.

The division also conducted 6,000 fire safety inspections, helping with down power lines, installed smoke alarms for needy families, and more. They also conduct origin and cause investigations for hundreds of fires in the region.

The following people received the award: Division Chief of Fire Prevention Matt Knott, Coordinator Mark Marinaro, Inspector Jon Retiman, Inspector Mike Rotolo, Inspector Tim Morris, Inspector Chad Moe, Inspector Michael Schnapper, and Inspector Chris Tumeo.
