BIFF incorporates music into festival; gets Rockford involved

Rockford get's in on an 8-year old film festival taking place just across the border to our north.

Not only is BIFF hosting viewing parties in Rockford, the film festivals leaders want Rockford to join in on a new endeavor.

Film and music.  Beloit International Film Festival organizers see the connection between the two.  Now they're taking action.

"BIFF has always been on the cutting edge, even though we're from this little city in Wisconsin," said Rod Beaudoin.  "This year we have been talking for two years and working for two years to create BIFF + Music."

The two just go together.  That's what BIFF Executive Director Rod Beaudoin recognizes.  That's why 18 bands will play at three different venues as part of the film festival.

"There is a trend that's begun where music is involved with film festivals across the country," said Beaudoin.

120 films, 100 filmmakers, 30 countries from around the globe.  Now, Rockford's getting in on the cut.

Two Rockford businesses, Franchesco's and Katie's Cup will feature film festival finalists.

"Oh it's great, its just a matter of having the right people in the right place to help assist in making those things happen," said Melissa Revels.

One local actress is excited about the expansion to get Rockford even more involved than it was last year.

"Well there's a big indie scene in Rockford with the film stuff going on and I'm an actor so I like to support this kind of thing so it's really great they do this."

The Beloit International Film Festival takes place February 14-17.
