Rockton Grade School's Mrs. Jacquelyn Hade, also this week's Teacher of the Week, was the first person in her family to go to college, which also makes her the first teacher in her family.
"I found a way to do it, and I haven't regretted it at all," says Jacquelyn Hade. "I don't know what else I would've done with my life."
But after 26 years of teaching, this year is her last.
"I want to go out while I still enjoy it," Hade says. "I don't want to wait until it's past the time when it's enjoyable."
And that's exactly what she and her students do each day, enjoy learning. With reading stations, giving each student a chance to be the teacher at times, they all get try their hand at reading out loud. Mrs. Hade says she'll miss the students the most, but a certain group will miss her as well.
"I think I appeal to little boys," Hade says with a laugh. "They like movement and I like movement. I can't sit still, so it's okay with me if they can't sit still."
But even though she's leaving the classroom full time, Hade sees herself back in the school, in some way or another.
"I do have grandchildren, so I'm hoping to be a little volunteer for them once in a while too."
