Local projects get funding for improvement

Projects in South Beloit, Oregon, and Rochelle will each get a portion of the nearly $50 million announced Wednesday for Illinois transportation improvement projects.

The funding comes from the federally-funded Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP), and will support over 400 jobs in 54 projects throughout the state. Locally, the following projects will receive funding:

  • Improvements to the Oregon Historic District - $525,760
  • South Beloit City Center Stateline Bicycle Link - $437,250
  • Flagg Rochelle Park District Bike RACC 2 - $590,500

ITEP promotes alternative transportation options like bike and pedestrian travel, as well as streetscape beautification. The program is competitive, federally-funded, and local matching funds are required. Work must begin within three years.
