2 dead in Jo Daviess County crash


Two people are dead after a Tuesday afternoon traffic crash on US 20 West in Jo Daviess County.

Deputies with the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office responded to a location on US 20 West, a half mile east of West Glen Hollow Road. Investigation showed a car driven by 71-year-old Bob Haug of Elizabeth was westbound on US 20 when his car hit an eastbound vehicle driven by 82-year-old Richard Kirstein of Galena.

Both Haug and Kirstein were transported to Midwest Medical Center in Galena, where they died of their injuries. Kirstein's passenger, 80-year-old Clyde Laughlin of Galena was also taken to Midwest Medical Center for his injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
